⚠️ IMPORTANT - READ THIS FIRST
This survival kit is designed to provide you with 72 hours of self-sufficiency in case of an emergency. Its effectiveness depends on its preparation, location, and regular maintenance. Take the time to carefully follow this guide.
⚡ IMPORTANT NOTE: The kit does NOT contain a lighter or matches (prohibited in transport). You MUST add them immediately.
1. WHERE TO PLACE YOUR SURVIVAL KIT
🏠 Optimal location
The choice of location is crucial. Your kit must be:
- Quickly accessible: In case of emergency, every second counts. You need to be able to grab it in less than 30 seconds.
- Weatherproof: Protected from moisture, excessive heat, and frost.
- Known to all: Every household member must know where they are.
- Easy to transport: Near a main exit if possible.
📍 Recommended locations (in order of priority)
- Cabinet/wardrobe near the main entrance - Ideal for a quick evacuation
- Garage (temperate zone) - Avoid areas that are too hot or humid
- Basement (dry zone) - Only if accessible quickly
- Car trunk - In addition, not as a replacement
💡 PRO TIP Place a visible fluorescent label "EMERGENCY KIT" on the bag. In case of extreme stress, even you might forget its exact location.
❌ Locations to absolutely avoid
- Wet cave or prone to flooding
- Attic (extreme temperatures)
- Behind other heavy objects
- In a locked room (unless the key is accessible)
2. ESSENTIAL ADDITIONS TO INCLUDE
Your Emergency Now kit contains 34 professional tools, but some items must be added personally as they are perishable, specific to your situation, or prohibited for transport (lighter/matches).
🔥 PRIORITY #1: LIGHTER/MATCHES
The kit contains 60 fire starter sticks but NO ignition source (prohibited in shipping).
IMMEDIATELY ADD: 2 storm lighters + 1 box of waterproof matches.

🍽️ FOOD (72 HOURS)
Selection criteria: Long shelf life, no cooking required, high energy value.

| Snacks | Walnuts, almonds, dried fruit, dark chocolate | 500g |

3. RECOMMENDED MODERN EQUIPMENT
💾 SSD / USB DRIVE (CRITICAL DATA)

- Family photos: Priceless memories
- Passwords: Encrypted export from your password manager (KeePass, 1Password)
Recommended media type:
- 256GB External SSD (Samsung T7, SanDisk Extreme Pro) - Shock-resistant
- Or a rugged USB flash drive (Kingston DataTraveler, Corsair Survivor) - Waterproof and shock-resistant
- Protection: Antistatic bag + waterproof pouch
📍 AIRTAG / GPS TRACKER
Why is this essential?
- In the event that the kit is stolen (from a parking lot, or from a broken-into car)
- If you need to give the kit to someone
- To locate the kit if it gets separated during a chaotic evacuation
- Peace of mind (remote verification)
Recommended options:
| Tracker | Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Apple AirTag | Ultra-dense, high-precision network, no subscription required | iPhone only |
| Samsung Galaxy Tag | Samsung Network, no contract | Android Samsung |
| Tile Pro | Compatible with iOS/Android | Less dense network |
| 4G GPS Tracker | GPS accuracy, no distance limit | Monthly subscription required |
Placement of the tracer:
- In a zippered inner pocket of the bag (not visible from the outside)
- Wrapped in waterproof plastic
- With a backup battery, if applicable

- Recent court orders (copies)
- Contact information for the attending physician
- Clear dosage instructions
- Specialized medical equipment (blood glucose meter, inhaler, etc.)
💰 EMERGENCY CASH
In the event of a widespread outage, credit cards are useless.
- Recommended amount: €200–€500 in small denominations (€5, €10, €20)
- Storage: Envelope sealed in an internal zippered pocket
- Safety: Do not discuss this in public
5. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONS
📅 MANDATORY MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
A kit that isn't maintained is a useless kit. Follow this schedule:
| Frequency | Steps to Take | Estimated duration |
|---|---|---|
| Every month | • Check the location of the kit (is it accessible?) • Test the power bank (charging) • Check expiration dates | 5 min |
| Every 3 months | • Rotation of perishable food • Radio and walkie-talkie testing • Checking for leaks in bags • Clothing inspection (children's sizes) | 20 min |
| Every 6 months | • Comprehensive checklist • Water replacement • Solar panel test • Document/SSD update • Battery replacement | 45 min |
| Every year | • Complete overhaul • Cleaning the bag • Family training (drill) • Medication updates • Evaluation and optimization | 2h |
💡 TIP: Set reminders in your phone or calendar:
- 1st of every month: Quick check
- January 1 / April 1 / July 1 / October 1: Quarterly review
✅ SEMI-ANNUAL CHECKLIST
- Water: Are the dates okay? Are the bottles intact?
- Food: Is anything past its expiration date? Are the packages intact?
- Batteries: Are they all working?
- Power Bank: Charge > 80%?
- Clothing: Are the sizes always the right fit?
- Medications: Are the expiration dates okay?
- Documents: Are they still up to date?
- Tools: Are they all here? Are they in good condition?
- Waterproof bags: No leaks?
- GPS Tracker/AirTag: Is the battery OK?
6. FAMILY EDUCATION
🎓 THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING
Even the best equipment in the world is useless if no one knows how to use it. Hold a family training session at least once a year.
📋 TRAINING PROGRAM (2 hours)
Session 1: Introduction to the kit (30 min)
- A Family Unboxing
- Each member handles each tool
- Questions and Answers About the Purpose of Each Element
Session 2: Hands-on exercises (60 min)
- Set up/take down the tent (if included)
- Purify water with the Filterwell filter
- Starting a fire with fire starters
- Using walkie-talkies (range, channels)
- Unfold the solar panel and charge a device
- Test the hand-crank radio
Session 3: Evacuation Drill (30 min)
- Timer: "You have 5 minutes to leave"
- Who’s going to get the kit? Who’s going to help the kids?
- Has a family meeting place been decided?
- Is there an out-of-area emergency contact that everyone knows about?
⚠️ GOLDEN RULE: Designate a contact person outside the area whom the whole family can reach. In the event of a local disaster, local phone lines get overloaded, but calls to other areas often go through.
7. EMERGENCY DOCUMENTS TO BE ADDED
📄 DOCUMENT POCKET (Laminated)
Create a waterproof pouch containing:
- Copies of everyone's identification documents
- Health Insurance Card / Private Health Insurance
- Driver's license
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Insurance certificates (home, car)
- Bank account information (IBAN)
- Health Records / Vaccinations
- List of emergency contacts (on paper!)
- City map with emergency shelters
- Spare keys (house, car)
💡 RECOMMENDED FORMAT: Laminate all documents (A4 or A5) and store them in a waterproof clear folder. Update them annually.
