🏥 LIFE-SAVING FIRST AID

SEVERE BLEEDING:

  1. Apply pressure with clean cloth
  2. Elevate limb if possible
  3. DO NOT remove bandage (add on top)
  4. Call emergency: 112 (EU) / 911 (US) / 999 (UK)

FRACTURE:

  1. DO NOT move victim
  2. Immobilize limb
  3. Cover to prevent shock
  4. Call emergency: 112 / 911 / 999

BURN:

  1. Cool with cold water (15 min)
  2. DO NOT pop blisters
  3. Cover with clean dressing
  4. If severe: call 112 / 911 / 999

🔥 FIRE & EMERGENCY SHELTER

MAKE A FIRE:

  1. Gather: tinder, kindling, medium wood
  2. Protect from wind
  3. Use pyramid or teepee technique
  4. Start small, expand gradually

EMERGENCY SHELTER:

  • Choose dry, elevated terrain
  • Back to wind
  • Insulate from ground (branches, leaves)
  • Waterproof roof (tarp, dense foliage)
  • Entrance opposite wind direction

💧 DRINKING WATER

PURIFICATION METHODS:

  1. Boiling (BEST): 1 min rolling boil, 3 min at altitude
  2. Purification tablets: Follow instructions (30-120 min)
  3. Portable filter: Use kit filter
  4. Bleach: 2 drops/liter, wait 30 min

FIND WATER:

  • Follow animal tracks
  • Green areas = water nearby
  • Valley bottoms
  • Morning dew (cloth + wring)
  • AVOID: stagnant water, murky water

STAY or MOVE?

STAY if: injured, lost, rescue coming, safe shelter
MOVE if: immediate danger, know where to go, good physical condition

🧭 BASIC NAVIGATION

FIND NORTH WITHOUT COMPASS:

  • Sun: Rises East, sets West
  • Watch: Point 12 at sun, bisect 12-hour hand = South
  • North Star: Big Dipper 5x extend to North Star = North
  • Tree moss: North side (Northern hemisphere)

IF LOST:

  1. STOP - Don't panic
  2. Think: Where did I go?
  3. Observe: Landmarks, traces
  4. Plan: Stay or move?

🍽️ EMERGENCY FOOD

REMINDER: Water > Food

You can survive 3 weeks without food, but only 3 days without water.

EDIBLE PLANTS (With caution):

  • Dandelions (leaves, roots)
  • Nettles (cooked)
  • Plantain
  • Wild berries (blackberries, blueberries)
  • ⚠ IF IN DOUBT, DON'T EAT

EDIBILITY TEST (if unknown):

  1. Rub on skin (wait 15 min)
  2. Touch to lips (wait 3 min)
  3. Touch to tongue (wait 15 min)
  4. Chew small piece (15 min)
  5. Swallow small piece (5h)
  6. If no reaction: edible

🌦️ WEATHER & PROTECTION

WEATHER CHANGE SIGNS:

  • Low thick clouds: rain soon
  • Halo around moon: rain in 24h
  • Sudden wind: storm approaching
  • Birds fly low: bad weather

HYPOTHERMIA PROTECTION:

  1. Stay dry (absolute priority)
  2. Insulate from ground
  3. Cover head (30% heat lost)
  4. Move to generate warmth
  5. Eat/drink warm if possible

HEAT STROKE PROTECTION:

  1. Immediate shade
  2. Remove excess clothing
  3. Moisten skin
  4. Drink in small sips
  5. Avoid physical exertion
